Term 3 Dictation List
Due to a rush job, many errors were spotted. Went through in class errors for the passage for Week 2 to Week 6. Will continue on 2 July.
Week 2: Tuesday, 8 July (Youth Day)
The sun was
shining brightly. My brother and
I went to the circus in town. The main tent was big but the
surrounding tents were
small. The clowns performed funny tricks. Did you see that frown
on Eric’s face? Were
those flippers on his feet? Would he waddle like a duck?
Week 3
Monda,y 14 July
During the school concert, May felt
shy when she stood in front of the school.
Harry, the boy with untidy
hair and black eyes, was amazingly confident. Daisy was disappointed
that she did not win the contest. Mary
felt ashamed of herself for falling down in the middle of the dance. Anna was trembling with fear before her
act.
Week 4, Monday, 21 July
Sandra likes to eat chicken burgers. Her mother
uses the finest ingredients to make them. She buys the eggs from my uncle, the
farmer. He gathers all the
chickens back to their coop daily. The chickens
eat worms and bugs in his yard. I
like to play in his farm. He teaches me how to do our part to keep the earth free
of pollution.
Week 5, Tuesday, 29 July (Hari Raya Haji)
Lisa let out a small sigh of grief
when she dropped her tray of eggs on the floor. They were from Mr
McQuire’s farm. It was famous for
its humongous hens. He had green
garden patch. The crickets
there made a lot of noise. He uses a spade to dig up the weeds in the
garden every day.
Week 6, Monday, 4 August On a warm
day , I perspire a lot. We use a room thermometer to find out
the temperature of the room. I love a stormy
day because I need not switch on the fan.
A colourful rainbow appears in the sky after the rain. I listen to the weather forecast to find out if
it will be raining tomorrow. Many people like to visit the park on a windy and
sunny day to fly their kites and play games.
Week 7, Monday, 12 August (National Day School Holiday)
We were excited to go to the
Botanic Gardens. The big trees made the place cool. We saw a mole, a small animal that
lives in a tunnel in the ground scurrying across our path. A cockatoo, a parrot with a lot of
feathers on top of its head, welcomed us loudly. After
exploring the garden, we were thirsty and hungry. We had a fabulous time at
the park.
Week 8, Tuesday, 18 August
The animals in the forest think that the owl is
very wise. Squirrels like to
climb trees and feed on nuts and seeds. The Badger lives underground and comes out to
feed at night. The little birds are chirping and flying about happily. The
owl hunts for food at night and sleeps
in the day. I love autumn because the weather is cool and the leaves
change colour and fall off the trees.
Week 9, Monday
25 August
A suspicious looking man entered the lift with
Sally. He had a tattoo on his left hand
and a large, crooked nose and big ears.
The girl was very wary about him.
When he tried to snatch her necklace, Sally managed to run
out of the lift. The man was furious. “How
did you find out?” he screamed and he stamped his foot so hard that it went right through
the floor.
